Community Tax Review 2025: Is It Good For Tax Relief?
When it comes to finding trustworthy tax relief, Community Tax is often mentioned alongside some of the biggest names in the industry. Founded over a decade ago, the company offers a wide range of financial tax services. Its longevity and national presence lend it credibility, but many clients report a less personalized experience compared to other top tax resolution firms. In this expert review, we’ll examine whether Community Tax is truly effective in 2025, what it costs, and how it compares to competitors.
Key Takeaway
Community Tax is a legitimate and experienced tax relief firm with a strong service lineup and nationwide reach. However, based on online client feedback, its transparency and communication are subpar. While Community Tax excels at handling broad tax issues, it may not be the best fit for taxpayers who prioritize clear expectations, upfront pricing, and regular updates throughout the process.
Based on our research, Community Tax ranks slightly lower than other tax relief firms. TaxRise remains our top recommendation as an alternative to Community Tax.

Is Community Tax Legit?
Yes, Community Tax is a legitimate company. It’s been in business for over a decade, maintains BBB accreditation, and claims to have helped thousands of clients settle tax debt. However, some reviews highlight inconsistent communication and lengthy wait times for updates, which can leave clients feeling uninformed during an already stressful process.
Community Tax has built a reputation as an all-in-one financial firm that can manage both tax issues and long-term planning. However, its broad service scope may indicate a less specialized approach to tax relief compared to companies like TaxRise, which focus exclusively on resolving IRS and state tax debt.

If I could give them zero stars I would. I paid $350 to have them investigate a tax problem. They came back with information I already knew and... read more already told them about and then said they can't help with a civil penalty assessment. He then wanted to know if I wanted to pay him more to set up a payment plan. I didn't think it was worth my time to take them to small claims to recover the money paid for information I already knew and already told them about.

September 30, 2025Don’t use them it has been five years since I’ve started this and still nothing nobody calls you back and I’ve had several different people supposedly work on it out... read more $7000 and I’m still getting letters from the IRS with no solution insight

September 18, 2025Due to a personal family tragedy, I found myself owing the IRS an extremely large amount covering 2 tax years. Community Tax (CT) was chosen to help me based solely... read more on the reviews I read. I found that their reviews didn’t tell half the story and they brought me a resolution never dreamed of and now the IRS doesn’t seem like the threat they once were at the beginning of the process. August 26, 2025I hired Community Tax back in 2018. Looking back, it was a huge waste of time and money. They didn’t help me save any money, nor did anything that I... read more couldn’t have done on my own. You’re better off reaching out to the IRS directly. Community Tax advertises that they will help cut your tax debt, but they don’t. If you owe the IRS, they’ll see that you pay every cent owed. Community Tax’s fees only added more $$$$ to my debt. They ended up setting up a monthly installment payment plan for me and led me to believe that I would have it paid off in a few years. In 2025, I finally had to make a full lump sum payment of the $13,000 owed. In that time span 2019-2025, I have paid triple the amount owed, due to penalties and late fees which accumulate daily. I would’ve never been able to pay it off in my lifetime based on the payment plan Community Tax provided. If you really need assistance, save yourself some headache and seek out a reputable local tax accountant to assist you. Best of Luck!

Customer Sentiment Snapshot
Community Tax maintains a high rating on Google but falls short on Trustpilot. The company also has noticeably fewer online reviews compared to other companies. Despite this, clients praise Community Tax’s knowledgeable staff and successful tax debt negotiations. However, negative reviews frequently mention slow response times, difficulty reaching assigned case representatives, and unexpected additional fees.
In contrast, TaxRise (our top pick) has consistently stronger client feedback that highlights fast response times, detailed progress updates, and compassionate support from case managers. TaxRise clients often say they feel informed and supported throughout the process — qualities that make a major difference when navigating IRS challenges.
Our Verdict
Community Tax is a reputable and effective tax relief company, particularly for clients who need ongoing tax, accounting, and financial planning services under one roof. However, for those whose primary goal is to resolve IRS debt with a specialized service, TaxRise offers a better overall experience. With proactive communication and a stronger 100% resolution money-back guarantee, TaxRise is a great go-to choice for taxpayers seeking trustworthy tax relief in 2025.
Alternatives to Community Tax

Community Tax vs. TaxRise
While both Community Tax and TaxRise are legitimate firms staffed with skilled tax professionals, their approaches differ. Community Tax offers a wider array of services beyond tax resolution — a strength for clients seeking comprehensive financial management, but a drawback for those needing specialized IRS tax relief. TaxRise, by comparison, focuses on IRS tax debt resolution and delivers a streamlined client-first experience.
Both companies have a minimum tax debt requirement of $10,000 to take on your case, but TaxRise will still provide a free consultation to individuals with tax debt as low as $5,000. TaxRise’s lower minimum debt requirement and 100% resolution money-back guarantee are an advantage for taxpayers and business owners, especially those who are in debt to the IRS for the first time ever. Meanwhile, Community Tax’s less transparent pricing and slower communication can frustrate clients seeking reliable updates.
In short, Community Tax is a solid contender for broad financial services, but TaxRise remains the superior choice for focused, effective tax resolution with top-rated customer support.
